Heart failure is a condition that affects more than 20 million people around the world1 (nearly 5 million in the United States2). It is the number one cause of hospitalization for people aged 65 and older.3 The "failure" usually happens when the heart becomes damaged and weak. Eventually, the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. Heart attach is one of the reason that causes heart failure.
There are several medical devices on current US market that will prevent and treat heart attack and some devices will prevent the heart failure from progression. Some of these medical devices have to be implanted into a patient’s heart to function. Some of these devices are only used for the purpose of cardiovascular intervention . The application of these devices are not involved in open chest surgery, which means the surgery procedure is minimum invasive.A few examples of these devices are: Coronary Dilatation Catheters, Coronary Stent Systems, Directional Coronary Atherectomy Devices and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Devices.
